Take a look at the laboratories of a world leader in genomic research. In the past three years JCVI teams have published results of the global ocean sampling expedition which has uncovered more than six million new genes and thousands of new protein families from organisms found in sea water. A synthetic version of PhiX 174, a virus that attacks bacteria was created, on a quest to create a fully synthetic chromosome and organism. JCVI also published this summer one complete human genome set.
Meet one of the Global Ocean Sampling Expedition Scientists and learn how the information from the expedition could be used in Synthetic Biology from Dr. John Glass.
JCVI also offers summer and semester internships! Our tour guide will be Ms. Lisa McDonald, the Education Director and the new Internship Coordinator for JCVI!
Max. number of visitors is 40!
