Q: How do I join the club?
A:
Send us an
e-mail
with your Full Name (as it appears on your TU record), TU e-mail, and your Student ID (needed to get this activity on your transcript). Once we add you, we are going to send you a welcome e-mail!
Q: Do I have to be in the MB3 major to join?
A:
No. As long as you are majoring or just interested in biological sciences, you are welcome to join us and contribute to the club!
Q: Why should I join the club?
A:
The meetings our club is organizing have the goal to inform you what the current research in the field is. The meetings give you opportunity to build your network for future internships, graduate schools, and careers. Techniques in this field are developing very fast. What you read in the most recent edition of your textbook, might be outdated already in the real world and substituted by a newer technology. Our goal is to keep you updated. Furthermore, extracurricular activity is one of the ways to show your potential employer or graduate school interviewer that you are an initiative and motivated person!
Q:
Can I add this on my resume?
A:
Yes! You should definitely add this to your resume!
Q: Why do employers and graduate schools prefer students involved in extracurricular activities?
A:
Being involved in an extracurricular activity shows that you are motivated to learn new things aside of the tasks given by your professors. It also shows potential employers and graduate schools that you are well-rounded, responsible, and can commit and work in a team toward a common goal. Taking a leadership position in a club shows not only your leadership and organizational skills, but also the depth of your commitment.
Q: What do I have to do as a member?
A:
Visit our meetings and come on the fieldtrips! If you cannot visit a meeting or all of them, because you have classes, work, or anything else, you can watch the meetings online. (We are working on this).
Q: Where and when do you meet?
A:
The club meets every other Friday in SM 360 (MB3 Program Office) from 12 to 1pm. For exact dates and topics
